The Economic Impact of Cerebral Palsy in Australia in 2007
The analysis in this report, commissioned by Cerebral Palsy Australia, underscores that lifetime costs are higher for conditions with onset earlier in life. Compared to other health conditions, cerebral palsy is more common in any year than the most common types of cancer, stroke, eating disorders, appendicitis or road traffic accidents; is in the top five most costly conditions on a per capita basis of 15 conditions studied by Access Economics and is a condition with a higher disability burden than being blind, deaf, having severe asthma or diabetes.
